   In the 1800's Absolom lived in the Township of Carter's Crossing which was in Sumter County. Carter's Crossing was the name given to the crossing on Scape Ore Swamp, which we now call Mansville. The crossroad on the Woodrow side of the swamp was known as Carter's Crossing.

   Ebb was a farmer and Molley was a housewife. During the years, they had four children Joseph (Joe), Sissie, Susan (Vermill) and Ervin Mansion. As the years passed their children got married. Joseph married Rachel Mickel and they had children. their names were: Roma, Nemire, Rachael, Bunioun, Jasper, Jamoise, and Evangelist. Susan married Jim McDuffie and they had children.

   Ervin Mansion married Elizabeth Chambers and they attended St. Mark Church in Bishopville Township. The Family lived in Mechanicsville Township. Ervin and Elizabeth had two sons, Robert (Boy) and Ervin Jr. (Dick). They had ten girls: Elizabeth, Annie Bell, Lucille (Big Baby), Ada (Liddie), Pennsicola (Abby), Pauline (Sut), Corine, Birdie (Cossie), Geneva (Coot)and Earlene (Hemp).

   In 1869, Ebb registered for the military when he was 33 years old.
